Some Frequently Discussed parameters: Work load, Gold with families, Educational reforms, Decreasing number of farmers, Indians migrating, Tax exemption for senior citizens; Caste census.
1.Work load – Some made very impracticable work load recommendations for employees. How much a person can work without collapsing? 40-44 hours per week. Beyond that is inhuman or unfair bonded labor. Yes. Turning out more work is good for the organization, society and nation. But this needs to be planned. Say, for example trains run every day. This does not mean employees are working seven days a week /24 X7! Enough manpower has been recruited for the trains to run all through the year. Similarly, if a greater number of hours of work is to be turned out accordingly additional man power must be recruited. This will also improve the employment prospects. However, what needs to be determined is the number of working days in year? How many working days should there be in 365 days?
- Eleven percent of worlds gold is supposed to be with indian women/families. Can government give any incentives to the families and take away the gold and increase gold reserves of the Indian government ? It will be an exemplary act of patriotism on the part of Indian families.
- Education–instead of students going abroad let foreign universities open their branches in India . This will be a lesser money drain of foreign currency. 4. A news sometime back. 1000 farmers disappearing every day. Where 145 crore people are to be fed such a trend is deleterious/ How to retain the farmers in farming? Needs to be calculated as to how many farmers and land are required to feed the population?
- Migration need not be discouraged or viewed with contempt . Rather to be encouraged. India has only 2% of land, 4% of water reserves but 18% of worlds population. So, encourage migration.
- Life long pensions for MLAs and MPs even with limited tenure. Why many restrictions for others? In this context it is worth reiterating that pensioners/senior citizens be exempted form income tax. Currently government is pondering to exempt tax for people above 75 years. But his is not really fair. Because employees retire at 60 years (barring exceptions of 65 years. Even then it is ten years after retirement). When the average life expectancy of Indians is 70-72 years tax exemption must be much before. Strange that Government spends so much money for incentives to general public but it never tries to win the hearts of government employees who retire at 60 years!
7.Caste census is being repeatedly in the news. Before making it a final formal report, an approximation can be done and made public. All MLAs and MP’s must be having a fairly good idea of different castes in their respective constituency. Let them give this information to news media which would collate and reveal to public.
- Educational reforms keep coming and differences/conflict between the states and center is not uncommon particularly in view of concurrent nature of the subject. Instead of a selected committee members deciding it is better that due representatives form all the 28 states come together and deliberate the reforms to be made.
