The event that happened in Ladakh is unfortunate and not acceptable considering it’s geopolitical positioning and sensitivity for our nation.
Ladakhi’s patriotism is never ever questioned and they stood with the country in every crisis and such a sensitive demography. What they are asking for is the fulfilment of 6th schedule promise that had been given by the present dispensation in the centre in 2019 and other things like two separate Member of Parliamentarians for Leh and Kargil as the region is so vast and not possible for citizens to traverse such distances in this kind of territories even though the total population is 5 lacs only.
They are asking for statehood and priority for local people in jobs, unemployment is a big issue all over India and it is a time bomb which has already started ticking.
The prelude of which we have seen even before 2024 elections and latest ones are Uttarakhand paper leak, Dharwad (Karnataka), Rajasthan, and NEET paper issue in Bihar which happened few months back.
The Leh, Ladakh and Kargil is a very critical geography considering our two neighbouring countries China and Pakistan and the fragility of ecology. Their citizens are always known for peaceful protest and one can recall very few incidents of violence there while standing for their democratic rights.
Why cannot we talk and assuage the feeling if not possible to fulfil all the demands but one can always have middle path and that is India.
Sonam Wangchuk is standing for the issues since last 5 years including two to three times hunger strike and a 1000 km march to Delhi for the issues.
Looking at the persona and track record of an individual it is shame to detent such person under NSA.
Here I do not want to blame the entity in power but thorough and impartial investigation should happen to bring the facts in public domain.
Meanwhile nation is boiling even more than prior to 2024 elections and there is a massive discontent in personal, social and all the fronts and one can observe it while traversing on the road.
India has never seen the situation which recently happened in Nepal and prior to that in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka all are our neighbouring sub-continental countries.
We are basically not such kind of people and our history is proof of that but this time I suspect the same thing may happen just like our neighbours, the overnight thwarting of all the democratic institutions.
It feels my soul with fear and the chaos that will be on display is beyond imagination.
The liberal and democratic values are becoming decreasingly visible not only in our society but in our homes and our country cannot progress without keeping such values intact as that is our fabric.
The country is at the verge of collapse and something is going to happen either the government is going to change with different party at the helm or the set of people who are ruling is going to change.
Our nation requires serious overhaul in all aspects be it education, economic policies, democratic institutions, rebuilding, polity, and serious rethinking on various stringent laws like UAPA, PMLA, NSA etc. etc
India should not become police state as that will be detrimental for us in all aspects.
The present set of people are highly incompetent and I really suspect whether they really have a faith in our democratic values.
Even the citizens should be in quandary considering the lowest ebb Election Commission of India has achieved through their deeds.
The onus lies on citizens and they must show a lot of maturity and restraint.
