Terrorism thrives on fear, fractured communities & manipulated ideologies, but defeating it demands collective responsibility, cohesion & a united stand against those who weaponise violence.

Most times man never waste a chance when it comes to exploring the means to engage in a confrontation. Be it at home, among friends, in the community, the state or beyond the borders. With whatever means at disposal they go with the maximum impact with varying cost to human life. There are numerous ways you react in a given situation possibly within the written rules of the society. However, terrorism is not part of any rule book rather the expression of a psychological outcome of someone who has gone insane.

History has witnessed many bloody confrontations arise out of the human character of madness along with the fact of subjugation of the so-called others. Every section of the mainstream community has got a chance to practice this madness. No groups can be set aside for practicing kindness or compassion in its entirety, let alone pardon.

There are systems where violence is institutionalised. Those who practice it will never accept they are doing something of savage brutality.  Such systems support cruelty and imbibe their members to such viciousness so much that they are made to think it’s part of their life’s routine. They believe their kind of subjugation is essential for the society to function normally. In such societies if their rules are not getting observed they will go to any extent of violence, hence to scare people, which is to terrorise.

It’s sad that there are many supporting terrorism, some knowingly , while some unknowingly. Most of us think our own establishments are doing good service even while being diabolic. Such organizations will initially grow exponentially until exposed. This process can even take centuries depending on how complex their organisation is established. There are also instances where certain groups are hidden from the mainstream until getting support from the ruling class. Till that time they will exist as model groups until exposed as nonchalant fakes.

We see many of the methodologies practiced by different ideologies at different times in history – Deceit, War, Genocide, Inquisition,Jihad, Propaganda, Fascism, Dictatorship. There are many ways these methods get practised. Politics, Religion are the conventional ones, until now we have one of the most potent and effective, the social media. I would like to postulate social media as the latest of the ideologies.

Some believe in social media without the need for evidence, same as religion. Some propagate views to manipulate and garner support, which is the essence of politics. While religion and politics have more or less established rules and beliefs, social media reinvents these each and every day. However the effect of practicing these ideologies depends on how it’s getting communicated.

The power of communication stems from the fact of its coverage, attention to the speaker, interest of the subject and its influence. Social media has all these aspects under one umbrella. Perhaps the power of communication increases with these levels of hierarchy from the Nations, States, Districts, Location, Groups,Family and Individuals. The most effective level of communication is talking to an individual. Social media is effective at all these levels which can be effectively used to trigger violence.

We always form groups thinking that it’s the most secure way of collective existence. From communities form groups to tribes to ethnicity to dynasty to nations to religion to empire. It’s always the struggle to protect their own groups that they go to the extent of violence. Violence that ends in terrorism is the oldest method to scare people.

War is an inevitable engagement which is notionally accepted amongst nations, but not for the commoner. If people are allowed to engage in fighting we may not have social justice and hence no place for a civilized world.

When established ideologies lose their shine and become difficult in their expansion they engage in diversional tactics. Such tactics in the form of terrorism spells the start of the demise of such ideologies. Be it religion or politics we are observing such demise in some nations.

Terrorism is a means to scare people from opposing.

Like any nation, those who take decisions, those who make rules, will never suffer, it’s always the commoner. Terrorism ultimately affects the most common people, those on the streets, as the elites have strict security protection. Though such heinous acts will never achieve any of their stated purpose, it destroys many more poor people. These terrorists are the worst of their kind, those that do not represent any, those that are brainwashed by losers, those that need to be isolated at all levels.

Eradicating terrorism is every one’s responsibility, not only of the government. There needs to be cohesion between communities. To have an effective fight it should be us versus the terrorists, until that happens we unfortunately are faraway from safety.
