Before I start my article, I need to confess something.

I DID NOT VOTE THIS YEAR. Nor did I follow the election news this year. Or nor did I have any zest to write an article about the election results. As I had lost every hope from this nation, my mind was in a turmoil state, I almost had 99% believe that democracy has been reduced to ruins and there is no freedom of speech left in this country since the past 10 years.

But the Lok Sabha election results changed my mind yet again. The Lok Sabha election results 2024 created more hype than any other event following this year. When the exit polls run by the government subsidized mainstream media channels all of which predicted more than 400 seats for the ruling BJP in the lower house of the parliament this time around, the Saffron party, could not even reach to the benchmark of 272 seats on its own reasserting any kind of play by the opposition which restricted their seats to 239 only. BJP lost its power over Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya(Faizabad constituency), the state where they claim to have “brought” Lord Ram after building the Ram Mandir in a hurry so as to make this a core point on the basis of which votes were asked by many campaigners of BJP in there election rallies.

Now the bigger question is what could have made UP with the highest number of Hindu population in India voted against a party who claims to be a Hindu nationalist party and promotes unprecedented “Hindutva” in the entire nation. Maybe the answer lies within their core values. They considered themselves so great they forgot the power given by the common people whose homes they have demolished for their own selfish needs.

When the Saffron party claims that in their tenure of 10 years, they have eradicated corruption and brought in development in India, where do we actually see it? Where are the hospitals’ proper health care systems post coronavirus? Modi was the only PM in the history of independent India who has led a nation through a global pandemic like Covid-19. What proper healthcare facilities did we see for the future? What was his vision for the next 10 years? We only see Ambanis and Adanis tripling their net worth since Modi came into power. What is the work he has done for the poor people as he promised?

Speaking of which, the infamous “Godi media” who have been on the laps of government all these time. Now the onus is on them. People are questioning the credibility of the 4th pillar of democracy, Journalism. They have unanimously destroyed their image as a media industry in front of the entire world. They put out a show of “Abki baar 400 paar” without analyzing any facts. How do we even call them journalists and not mongrels?

While Congress has improved its numbers from last time, the India alliance, as a whole, unexpectedly has won in many states including major states like Punjab and Maharashtra. This time the people of India, voted against hate, fascism and against all the lies spoken in the past 10 years by the Modi government.

The major drawbacks which led BJP to lose the majority mark are the CAB/CAA, Farm bills, the mishandling of the global pandemic, the demolishing of houses in UP/Ayodhya, the restriction of freedom of speech, the fiasco over Adani’s scam and many more. This was an unexpected turn for the party claiming to own 400 seats alone.

Lastly I would stress on the idea that if 130 crore people gave you a mandate making you their Prime Minister for 10 years and you proactively tell people to be “Atmanirbhar” during covid times whereas now you are “Nirbhar” on Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar to make you a PM again. Maybe if you as a Supreme leader would have worked towards the nation and not tried to be a dictator, you would have been able to form a government without the need of an alliance.

Nevertheless, with a lot of hope and integrity I am very much proud of this nation for letting democracy win. And also a heartfelt congratulations for Modi 3.0 alongwith the NDA alliance for forming government at the centre and the India alliance(with a special mention of YouTuber Dhruv Rathee who made sure the lies of the government came into light of the people through his videos). Thank you to everyone who has kept the DEMOCRACY word alive in the world’s largest democratic country, India. Jai Hind.
