WASHINGTON, March 12 (Reuters) – The U.S. Central Command said on Thursday that it was carrying out rescue efforts after it lost a military aircraft in “friendly airspace” in Iraq during the ongoing conflict with Iran.

“Two aircraft were involved in the incident. One of the aircraft went down in western Iraq, and the second landed safely,” the military said, adding that the incident was not the result of hostile fire or friendly fire.
