New Delhi: The governments of Peru and the UK Friday signed an agreement for the construction of two new hospitals in northern regions of Peru, a press release from the UK government stated.

The agreement, involving the delivery of hospital infrastructure worth $630 million, was signed at the Presidential Palace in Lima with the attendance of President Dina Boluarte, between His Majesty’s Ambassador to Peru Gavin Cook and Peruvian Ministry of Health Dr. César Vásquez Sánchez.

The construction of two new hospitals will help to reduce the regional healthcare gap by providing improved healthcare services in remote areas of the country, the release added.

The hospitals are being designed to be managed by the Peruvian Health Investment Agency, PRONIS, and are expected to be located in Piura and Trujillo. The UK government has also committed to providing technical assistance, design, and programme management support to help the project to progress, which is the fourth G2G agreement signed between the UK and Peru to date.
