New Delhi: Seven Solomon Islanders have been awarded 2024 to 2025 Chevening Scholarships by the UK government, the British High Commissioner to Solomon Islands and Nauru announced this week, a UK government release stated.

The Chevening Scholarship scheme is designed to support brilliant individuals from diverse backgrounds who are committed to achieving their full potential. The scholarships are fully funded, and will allow the scholars to pursue any eligible master’s degree at over 150 UK universities. In addition, they will be able to access a range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.

The 2024 to 2025 cohort of scholars departed for the UK this month. British High Commissioner Thomas Coward said, “If you are passionate about driving change locally and globally, if you want to be the best at what you do and you have the imagination to inspire and help others, then a Chevening Scholarship could be the perfect opportunity for you.”

“We want to support the next generation of leaders and value energy, open-mindedness, curiosity, compassion, a clear vision for your future and the ability to achieve your goals,” he added.

Emma Hennessey, Head of The Scholarships Unit at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), said, “Chevening Scholars, Fellows, and Alumni use the skills and knowledge they gain while studying in the UK to drive change when they return home, becoming leaders and change-makers, helping to ensure the world is a better place in which to live, work, and thrive.”
