New Delhi: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stressed the need to implement the “Clean Sri Lanka” program with a focus on humanitarian objectives during a meeting of the Colombo District Coordination Committee held Wednesday.

The Prime Minister, speaking at the District Secretariat in Narahenpita, highlighted the multifaceted nature of the program, emphasizing that it goes beyond mere environmental cleanliness. Discussions during the meeting covered a range of topics, including the allocation of land for an explosives warehouse in the Colombo District, future development plans for local government institutions, community empowerment programs, and the execution of the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, revealed a press release from the prime minister’s office.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya underscored the government’s commitment to fulfilling the expectations of the public who voted for change in the last election.  She stated that “Clean Sri Lanka” is not just about policy implementation or legal enforcement but also about driving positive behavioral changes and improving human relationships.

“The change required must begin at an individual level,” the Prime Minister said, urging people to consider the difference they can make in their own spaces. She emphasized the importance of sensitivity and quality service in ensuring public satisfaction with the program.
