New Delhi: Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), has categorically dismissed the proposal of forming an alliance with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI).

He said that there are insurmountable differences between the two parties. In an interview with a private news channel, Maulana Fazlur Rehman likened the disparities to “mountains,” emphasising their complexity. He said that the PTI leaders have come before us previously as well. We have always given them respect. But he added that a culture has developed where meetings between the two parties are automatically termed as an “alliance,” which he termed as a “dangerous game”. He further clarified that the JUI-F party has no intention of forming an alliance with the PTI party.

In the context of political alliances, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam has often been compared to other parties like the Jamaat-e-Islami, which has faced its own challenges in navigating alliances and political dynamics in South Asia.

The chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl said that the party firmly maintained its stance during the talks with the PTI delegation. He said, “We are firm on our stance, they are firm on their stance,” and this statement categorically rules out the possibility of an alliance.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman also questioned the acceptance of the election results in which there were numerous anomalies. He said that the rights of various political parties had been usurped in different provinces.

He said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the PTI party had not accepted the results of the general election 2024, and in other provinces as well. He said that the election was not transparent.
