MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexico’s new President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Wednesday that she does not have plans to meet soon with her U.S. counterpart President Joe Biden, but she added that close coordination with Mexico’s top trade partner will continue.

Sheinbaum, who took office at the start of this month, noted that the United States is in the final stretch of its general election.

“We’re going to be very respectful of what’s happening in the United States and coordination (with its government) will continue,” she told reporters at her daily morning press conference.

She added that her foreign minister will meet with the U.S. ambassador later this week.
