New Delhi: Marking six years of the attack on Pittsburg Synagogue, US Vice President Kamala Harris remembered the victims in Washington Sunday, the White House said in a statement.
“Today, we remember the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting six years ago, when a white supremacist murdered 11 Jewish people in Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill neighborhood,” said Harris calling the attack “unspeakable act” and fueled by “hate”.
It “was the deadliest attack on the American Jewish community in our nation’s history,” she added.
The Vice President spoke about America’s first museum and education center dedicated to antisemitism’s history at the site of the Synagogue and that it will be a symbol of the country’s “enduring strength”.
Vice President Kamala Harris emphasized the Biden administration’s commitment to combating antisemitism. “I will always work to ensure the safety and security of Jewish people in the United States and around the world, and will always call out antisemitism whenever and wherever we see it,” she stated.
The Vice President highlighted the administration’s efforts, including the National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, increased funding for the physical security of nonprofits and faith-based institutions, and the enactment of the most significant gun safety law in nearly 30 years.
