New Delhi: During the ongoing 77th World Health Assembly, India, in collaboration with Norway, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and Partnership for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH), hosted a side event focused on Women, Children, and Adolescent Health, a PIB press release stated.
The event, organised by India in collaboration with Norway, UNICEF, UNFPA, and PMNCH, aimed to promote dialogue on key issues and opportunities for investment in maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and well-being. The speakers at the event emphasised the importance of investing in adolescent health and the need for targeted communication strategies to reach the adolescent audience group.
Union Health Secretary and Head of the Indian delegation, Apurva Chandra, highlighted the progress made in the field and the initiatives taken by the government to improve adolescent health. He emphasised the importance of the Reproductive and Child Health (RCH)-I, RCH – II initiatives and the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram which stress adolescent health.
The country also emphasised the importance of using right communication strategies to convey messages to the adolescent audience group. The need for involving a youth group representative as a key stakeholder in the planning and implementation of any programme was also discussed. The event was a platform for India to showcase its efforts in improving the health and well-being of women, children, and adolescents. The country’s commitment to investing in proactive actions to promote their health and well-being was emphasised.
