New Delhi: Vice President Kamala Harris spoke with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Thursday, thanking him for his partnership and friendship. This was their 12th conversation since she took office.

According to a White House readout Harris reaffirmed her “unwavering commitment to the security of Israel.”

The two leaders discussed the ceasefire and hostage deal reached between Israel and Hamas, crediting the efforts of President Joe Biden. Harris expressed hope that the deal would be fully implemented on schedule.

She welcomed the deal’s hostage release and the aid it would bring to Gaza, along with its potential to end the war and secure Israel.

Harris also expressed her belief that the ceasefire and hostage deal could be the foundation for a more peaceful future for Israelis and Palestinians. She said she intends to continue working to achieve a future of greater peace, dignity, and security for all people in the region.
