PARIS, March 26 (Reuters) – Social media app TikTok has been reported to the Paris prosecutor’s department by the French education ministry over its possible links to mental health problems for young people due to excessive time spent in front of screens, the education ministry said on Thursday.

TikTok, which is owned by China’s ByteDance, has already come under scrutiny in France.

Last November, French judicial authorities said they had opened an investigation over the risks that TikTok’s algorithms could push young people to suicide. TikTok has said it rejects such accusations.
