PARIS, March 23 (Reuters) – Former French Socialist Prime Minister Lionel Jospin died at age 88, broadcaster BFM reported.

Jospin was head of government under the centre-right President Jacques Chirac from 1997 to 2002 during cohabitation, a term used in France when the president and the prime minister come from opposing camps.
