BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazil’s federal police are set to conclude by November a probe into former President Jair Bolsonaro’s alleged ties to a coup d’etat attempt after he lost the 2022 election, a source with direct knowledge of the investigations told Reuters.

According to the source, signs of Bolsonaro’s involvement in editing a draft decree to overturn the election results will be reinforced by further evidence collected by the federal police after search and seizure warrants were carried out as part of the probe.

Bolsonaro’s lawyers did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The former far-right president has always denied any wrongdoing.
