New Delhi: Two blasts rocked a boys’ high school in a Shia neighbourhood of Afghanistan’s capital Kabul on Tuesday.

News agency Reuters quoted the Afghan police as saying that six people had so far been killed and at least 11 injured.

The report said there had been no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The school is located in Kabul’s west – Dasht-e-Barchi — where members of the Hazara Shia community stay. It has been previously targetted by Sunni groups, including the Islamic State.

Reports said bombs went off when the students were coming out after morning classes.

Police spokesperson Khalid Zadran tweeted that Tuesday’s blasts at the Abdul Rahim Shahid High School had “caused casualties among our Shia brothers”.

He told news agency AFP that the bombs were improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that blew up outside the high school in western Kabul.

The Taliban, which came to power after the West withdrew last August, has been confident of securing the country. But the risk of rebellion remains high, according to analysts.
