New Delhi: US President Joe Biden has named key cybersecurity and nuclear policy officials to his administration, the White House said Thursday in a statement.
The nominations include Michael Sulmeyer, who has served as principal cyber adviser to the secretary of the Army, and Christopher Hanson, who has been chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission since 2021.
Sulmeyer has held a variety of positions in the Department of Defense, the National Security Council and U.S. Cyber Command, and has taught at the University of Texas School of Law, the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs and Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology.
Hanson has served as a staff member on the Senate Appropriations Committee and in the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy, and has held other positions in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the Office of Nuclear Energy.
He has also served as a consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton, an energy consulting firm.
“I am honored that President Biden has chosen me to be nominated as Chair of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission,” Hanson said. “This is an incredible opportunity to serve as part of a team that is dedicated to ensuring the safety, security and responsible advancement of nuclear energy programs.”
