New Delhi: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has unveiled a new partnership startegy for Uzbekistan to support the country’s transition to a green economy and sustainable development, an ADB press release stated.
The new strategy, which will be implemented over the next five years, will focus on a number of areas, including energy, public sector management and governance, finance, transport, agriculture and natural resource management, and urban development.
As part of the strategy, ADB will strengthen its macroeconomic and fiscal reforms to create more enabling conditions for the private sector to operate in the country. This includes improvements to the domestic financial markets and infrastructure investments. The bank will also support private sector engagement in economic development through direct nonsovereign financing and through public-private partnerships.
The ADB is committed to providing long-term, trusted support to Uzbekistan to help the country achieve its strategic goals and sustainable development. The new strategy reflects the bank’s commitment to the country’s long-term development plan, known as “Uzbekistan-2030”.
Eugene Zhukov, ADB Director General for Central and West Asia, said: “ADB’s new partnership strategy for Uzbekistan will support the country in achieving its strategic goals in transitioning to a green economy by 2030.”
