New Delhi: Many, many politicians tweeted on the passage of the Triple Talaq Bill in the Rajya Sabha. However, we were surprised to see President of India Ram Nath Kovind applaud the NDA’s bill which many opposition parties opposed. Isn’t the President supposed to be above party politics?
Passage in the Rajya Sabha of Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill completes Parliament's approval of ban on the inequitable practice of triple talaq. A milestone in the quest for gender justice; a moment of satisfaction for the entire country #PresidentKovind

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, got into (another) war of words about the passage of the triple talaq bill. They’re blaming each other about who gave the BJP the numbers to pass the Bill. While the popcorn is out at our end, we think it might be better for both the parties to stop the blame-game and concentrate on defeating their common opponent.
Madam, is recounting an incident from TWENTY years ago the best you can do to defend PDP duplicity? So you are accepting you instructed your MPs to abstain. And no an abstention is NOT a no vote, a no vote is a no vote. An abstention helped the BJP this time. https://t.co/wSolvuk8Mq

Omar sahab, I suggest you get off your moral high horse since it was your own party that expelled Soz sahab for voting against the BJP in 1999. FYI in parliament, abstention is essentially a no vote. https://t.co/zBVGboDKbX

Delhi Mahila Congress president Sharmistha Mukherjee turned the tables on the PM, if that is possible. She responded to the PM’s celebratory triple talaq tweet and how it helped women, with a reminder of the Unnao case.
Ur claim of gender justice will remain hollow if you can’t ensure justice 2 Unnao rape victim& her kins.Pls be a true PM & dont let ur party protect a convict.Ensure thorough probe of d accident& let d guilty b given exemplary punishment. That’ll be real victory 4 gender justice https://t.co/uPiGhhbfPV

Loktantrik Janata Dal MP Sharad Yadav had serious complaints about the way the bill was passed and those who walked out on it.
The way Triple Talaq Bill got clear way for being passed today was not d healthy precedent for Parliamentary democracy. Parties missing and did walk out have actually became part for clear passage. Had they really against the Bill, their MPs should have voted against d Bill.

And look at the BJP cartoon on the triple talaq bill — we suppose it’s one way to ‘hammer’ in a message…

The disappearance of Cafe Coffee Day owner V.G. Siddhartha Tuesday elicited many responses on Twitter. One was from fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya who expressed sadness over Siddhartha’s alleged letter to the company board and then hit out at the government and banks for hounding people, himself included. Siddhartha was found dead early Wednesday morning.
I am indirectly related to VG Siddhartha. Excellent human and brilliant entrepreneur. I am devastated with the contents of his letter. The Govt Agencies and Banks can drive anyone to despair. See what they are doing to me despite offer of full repayment. Vicious and unrelenting.

Former Karnataka chief minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah was more concerned with conspiracy theories: he wondered at the mysterious circumstances that led to the CCD owner’s death.
The death of V G Siddhartha is both disturbing &mysterious. The reasons & the invisible hands that ended his life in this tragic way should be unearthed through impartial &fair investigation.
Our party & I shall always stand with Shri. S M Krishna in their fight for justice.

Congress leader and senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi resurfaced on Twitter with a rapier jibe at the ruling party regarding BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy. Now, why is he so concerned about Dr Swamy’s fortunes?
A lot of people in my mentions talk about Subramaniam Swamy as an ideal BJP candidate for Finance. In fact a lot of BJP core supporters think so too. What stops BJP from listening to the people if they work as per where the heart of the people is?

Congress leader Milind Deora’s wife was seen in a video starring the who’s who of Bollywood at an alleged ‘drug party’ which was tweeted (and criticised) by Akali Dal MLA and national spokesperson, Manjinder Singh Sirsa. Mr. Deora was quick to shut down Sirsa, who said that Bollywood actors were proud to flaunt their drugged state. Now, if only we had been there, we’d know what really happened…
My wife was also present that evening (and is in the video). Nobody was in a “drugged state” so stop spreading lies & defaming people you don’t know!
I hope you will show the courage to tender an unconditional apology https://t.co/Qv6FY3wNRk

And read how Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi claps back at a silly naysayer.
