New Delhi: Former president Pranab Mukherjee is never out of the news for long. Last week, he irritated the Congress by praising the Election Commission, Tuesday, he was paid a visit — by the Prime Minister. Here he is thanking him, and holding him to his promise.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy solicits Modi’s help in his tweet about the Ram temple being in the cold storage for five years till he intervened and took it to the Supreme Court. Next, he’ll want to be on the top court’s mediation panel.

Mumbai Congress president Milind Deora lauded Kotak Mahindra Bank’s efforts to be “plastic free”. He also tagged Shiv Sena’s Aaditya Thackeray for raising the issue in the Maharashtra government. With state leaders’ resignations piling up in the Congress, wonder if we should read anything more into this.

Senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh chose to remember Veer Savarkar on his birth anniversary. He hailed his efforts as a courageous freedom fighter. We are somewhat confused… didn’t Savarkar strike a deal with the British to free him from jail in exchange for not taking part in the freedom struggle?

Rajasthan’s deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot took time out from politics to congratulate shooter Apurvi Chandela who won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle at the International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup in Munich. Maybe Pilot can enlist her help in trouble-shooting for the Congress?

Translation: Apurvi Chandela, the shooter of the state’s Jaipur district, is 10m at ISSF World Cup. After winning the gold medal in air rifle event, I wish her a hearty congratulations and a happy future. With this achievement you have once again illuminated the name of the country and the whole world, we are proud of you

Meanwhile, BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga is shooting his mouth off with a choice few words against journalist Nikhil Wagle for questioning the BJP’s mandate.

BJP’s information and technology chief Amit Malviya called out a news channel for peddling a “fake narrative”, maligning PM-elect Narendra Modi and being shamed by Malviya on the air. A bit rich coming from the BJP IT cell, since it stands accused of spreading disinformation?

Former Aam Aadmi Party member and lawyer Prashant Bhushan tweeted a cartoon of Pragya Singh Thakur and Narendra Modi asking “Pragya ka saath, Godse pe Vishwas, Kiska Vikas?” Such a pertinent question, sir, maybe you should lead the Opposition?

For all self help junkies, BJP leader Pankaja Munde has a feel good message.

Actor and politician Prakash Raj is brave enough to take a dig at PM Narendra Modi — with the help of the media — on the proportion of BJP MPs with criminal cases — 39 per cent, he screams IN ALL CAPS.
