Test anxiety leads to severe anxiety and nervousness in students, even shivering and a feeling of nausea. This is quite normal during the board exams where a student has to compete with lakhs of other students. Scoring high on the board is the biggest source of stress. But they can be handled with a few tips.

10 tips for students to handle exam stress

  1. Study routine: In order to complete the topics before the exam, candidates must have a study plan that will give them the time for the revision and do a mock test. A large portion of the syllabus cannot be completed in a rush, hence proper management is required.
  2. Make a proper note of subjects: It is very useful at the time of the revision. It is advised to have different notebooks for different subjects so that it is easy to look up the notes as per the subjects.
  3. A suitable environment: Try to study in a space which is free from noise. This gives better concentration. Avoid an area that includes lots of people occupying the same place.
  4. A mock 3-hour exam: Take a mock test to make yourself familiar with the exam duration. This is important because sitting in the exam for 3 long hours is tiring so get used to it.
  5. Regular breaks in between studies: Every 45 minutes, students must take a break in order to relax. Studying at a stretch for long hours leads to exhaustion, frustration, and sleepiness. Therefore, step out of the study every 45 minutes.
  6. Always reach out if you need help: Clarify your doubts by approaching teachers, parents, and even seniors. Being at the same chapter or topic leads to frustration that leads to a reduction in the concentration level. Whenever possible, candidates must reach out to someone who can help them.
  7. Value time as it is very precious: Several tasks need to be performed in a day. Thus time management is very important. Students must set aside enough time for  revision after going through the chapters and topics.
  8. Stay positive: There are so many things that need to be covered before the exam. Hence it is very important for students to be away from the negative things and distractions and to keep themselves motivated.
  9. Healthy meals: Having a balanced meal and light food gives energy and  makes one better prepared to sit for an exam.  Physician fitness is equally important while preparing for the board examination. Hence it is advised to eat green vegetables and fruits at this time.
  10. Sleep well: Sleep is very important at this time to re-charge the body. The body and mind need to rest for at least 8 hours. Lack of sleep and rest will affect your concentration levels while studying for an exam.
