Gurinder Chadha’s latest film Christmas Karma is an immigrant take on the popular festival, through the character of Eshaan Sood, played by Kunal Nayyar. Backed by Anushka Shah of Civic Studios, the film looks at the experience of Sood who is now a wealthy man, and his own trauma of being a migrant. In this interview with ThePrint, Chadha and Shah talk about what it means to make a film amid growing anti-immigrant sentiment in the UK, and the need for multicultural films.
