At present, Alireza Arafi has been appointed as Iran’s interim Supreme Leader following the reported death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with a temporary three-member leadership council assuming his duties until a successor is chosen. That council includes President Masoud Pezeshkian and Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, in addition to senior cleric Alireza Arafi.
