NEW YORK (Reuters) – The cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX has been fined $100 million for violating the federal Bank Secrecy Act by failing to adequately police money laundering, the U.S. Department of Justice said on Wednesday.

BitMEX was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John Koeltl in Manhattan, after pleading guilty last July. It was also sentenced to two years of probation.
