Alice Wells, the Acting Assistant Secretary of State for south & central Asia, addressed a wide range of issues at the UNGA Thursday. Here’s a transcript.
Modi's meet with Rouhani comes amid an escalating face-off between Iran and US on Tehran's nuclear programme, and a fortnight after drones attacked Saudi's oil facility.
Pakistan PM Imran Khan has been raising the Kashmir issue on the margins of the UNGA, targeting India for ‘keeping nearly 8 million people under lockdown’.
While the language war in other states is targeting those who can't speak the local language, in Bengal, even those whose mother tongue is Bengali have to constantly prove their Bengali-ness.
Mini deal will likely see no cut in 10% baseline tariff on Indian exports announced by Trump on 2 April, it is learnt, but additional 26% tariffs are set to be reduced.
Capable of being fired in plain and high-altitude areas, it has day-and-night capability and two-way data link to support post-launch target, aim-point update.
As Narendra Modi becomes India’s second-longest consecutively serving Prime Minister, we look at how he compares with Indira Gandhi across four key dimensions.
Apparently Imran Khan didn’t read out his speech from a piece of paper, he spoke extempore. He didn’t have it carefully thought out and put together coherently, with optimum usage of words. Is this called confidence or foolishness? This gentleman cannot speak English, he cannot speak Urdu. Imran Khan must be the most unimpressive speaker among the world leaders today. I really feel sorry for our Kashmiri brothers and sisters. Those people are really suffering, and there is only one guy speaking for them who cannot speak for nuts! What the Kashmiris need is some persuasive talking which will reverse their sad plight without a war. Because any war that happens will happen on their land which will worsen their situation even further.
Those who are talking of nuclear war don’t take into account the consequences if the hundreds of snow filled peaks and glaciers in indo pak border are nuked. The resultant floods will kill millions in south asia and the climate change will have irreversible damage to the entire world.
”Millions of Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jews and Buddhists are also poor, illiterate and oppressed. Do they engage in terrorism, riots and bomb blasts, population explosion and jihad like Muslims do? ” Taslima Nasreen
Let’s take Imran at his word and dismiss the possibility of diplomacy or common sense (Pakistan never had one) will fend off a potential nuclear conflict and Pakistan uses all of its nuclear weapons and one nuke is dispatched to each urban area and that none of its nukes misfire (let’s indulge) or are intercepted and that the islamic bombs are 100% effective (just to be consistently dark), killing each and every inhabitant of the target cities and its immediate surroundings, India may be still left with approximately 739,704,323 people, 62% {i.e., 1,200,000,000 (India’s total population) – 460,295,677 (India’s total urban population in 2018)}. The actual causality fraction in Hiroshima was about 30%. If we based our calculation on that, India will be still be left with more millions of people to pick up the pieces to rebuild the nation. So, inhabitants of India will survive, but India as we know it will survive or not is altogether a different question. All the central leadership and respective power structures are seemingly cooped up in one place (New Delhi) as lambs for slaughter. Does the Indian government have a plan for a nuclear war and its aftermath? I doubt it. However, the survivors will definitely build a new nation out of its ashes. It goes along with the Hindu philosophy of multiple reincarnations. As for Pakistan, who cares? They live for happiness in afterlife and see this world only as a temporary abode.
Not just Imran, quite a few in India also will be praying that there is a blood bath. To show the world Modi failed. Who cares of the Nation when all you want is just to see the PM fail.
Basically a decent guy, however, having to parrot His Masters Voice (of the Big Boots) all the time means, there is no scope of personal freedom.
All he could do, so far, was:
a) to get rid of a few buffalos of the Nawaz Shariff’s regime, and
b) recite from the script given to him by the Big Boots.
Meanwhile the Big Boots are in total control of the country without a single bullet being fired.

”Kashmiris will be further radicalised” Kashmiri or non-Kashmiri. Most Muslims are radicalised whether they live in Somalia or Switzerland.
Hypothetically the best friend of Muslims and especially of the Uyghurs and Rogihoniis
