Wankhede, whose tenure with Mumbai NCB ended on 31 December, was in news during his stint with the NCB due to action against Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan in an alleged drug case.
Wankhede, Mumbai Zonal Director of NCB, was in spotlight for Bollywood-linked cases like arrests of Rhea Chakraborty and Aryan Khan. His tenure at NCB ended on 31 December.
The high court also modified another condition laid down in the bail order that required Aryan Khan to furnish his itinerary to the NCB every time he travels out of Mumbai.
Khan's plea argued that since the probe has been transferred to Delhi NCB's SIT, the bail condition of appearing every week in Mumbai can be relaxed. He was granted bail on 28 Oct.
Earlier, Prabhakar Sail, an independent witness used by the NCB, had alleged that some officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau had tried to extort money for letting off Aryan.
NCB said, however, that 'no officer has been removed from their present role' & only some cases of 'national & international ramification' been shifted to headquarter for 'deeper investigation'.
This was Khan’s first appearance at the NCB office since his release from the prison on 30 October following the bail granted by the Bombay High Court.
