Breaking 2-year deadlock between Punjab & UP, top court says gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, who avoided 26 court warrants, cannot oppose transfer citing minor medical ailments.
Ansari is lodged in district jail Rupnagar in Punjab in connection with an alleged extortion case since January 2019. He is also accused in several cases of heinous crimes lodged in UP.
The UP govt also filed written submissions stating that transfer of Ansari's custody was meticulously planned and raised strong suspicion of conspiracy to delay proceedings.
UP govt says Mukhtar Ansari got permission to appear via video-conferencing in 9 out of 10 criminal trials against him in the state, but has not attended any.
Uttar Pradesh has moved the top court, seeking a direction to Punjab to hand over the BSP MLA’s custody so that trials in 10 criminal cases pending against him can proceed.
Special CBI court last week acquitted gangster Mukhtar Ansari, his MP brother Afzal and 5 others accused of killing UP BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai in 2005.
A stunted middle class may be a direct result of extreme inequality. Folks at the top don’t see teeming masses as a meaningful market, except for utilities, soap, short videos, and personal loans.
While the commission didn’t mention provisions under which IndiGo's market domination would be examined, Competition Act 2002 prohibits abuse of dominant position by any enterprise.
It is argued that India-Israel ties are moving from buyer–seller dynamic to one focused on joint development & manufacturing partnership, a shift 'more durable' than traditional arms sales.
Don’t blame misfortune. This is colossal incompetence and insensitivity. So bad, heads would have rolled even in the old PSU-era Indian Airlines and Air India.
