It is inconceivable that an investigation could proceed in an unbiased and professional manner if the CM – from any party – has some chestnuts in that fire. Personally I had felt very happy when Justice Patnaik was brought into the picture recently; he inspires more confidence than the CVC ever could. Of course, the Court’s time is incredibly precious and scarecrow, so it must keep its interventions in such matters to a bare minimum.
