No CM has won a second term since 1985. However, Shri Siddaramiah is a shrewd politician. He is giving Kannadigas their own flag, the Lingayats status as a religious minority. The revival of the Congress rests on the shoulders of such regional leaders. If the survey proves accurate, that would almost completely preclude an early general election.
