I think it will be hard to justify this $550 to listen to streaming music content and movies. Granted maybe a few Apple fan professionals who edit video and buy into this price tag as being the ultimate quality will purchase them. In a pandemic I don’t see this as a product for people who work at home or have jobs that couldn’t possibly afford headphones at this price. I mean at some point you see less and less benefit from audio quality when you consider the sources most listen too and the devices which don’t always have great D/A converters. Then there’s the fact Bluetooth is getting better but its still not great.
I find it hard to see where the costs play into this price given that Bose and Sony offer good and proven products for much less. Can Apple truly demand such a price in a market full of really good quality less pricy alternative? Well there are a lot of elitist Apple people who don’t see the price tag as a turn off.
Me, I value a more realistic approach in terms of buying audio products. Don’t spend too much if the source isn’t worth it.
