Former AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria, said the rise in Covid cases seems to be driven by the XBB 1.16 variant while the influenza cases are because of H3N2.

Official sources clarifeid that masks were not mandatory yet. Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra can also continue provided it adhered to Covid protocols, they said.
He said in a statement in the Rajya Sabha, that the focus is to ensure that no unknown variant of the virus enters India and at the same time there is no impediment to travelling.
