An academic is expected to have some intellectual honesty. I guess it is a shortcoming of our intellectuals. A student of PhD should know a bit more about the origin of Indian traditions. These are all schools under the same umbrella of Sanatana Dharma. The idea of Maya is not an Original Buddhist idea. The idea of nirvana is not an original Buddhist idea. Buddha was not born in a vacuum and propound these notions. Let us speak the truth.
I understand the dislike and hatred for the oppressor and upper caste Hindus. The hate is justified. I would hate them too if I were a Dalit that was illtreated. That is just wrong and I do not believe a heart felt overdue apology has never been rendered. This has to be done by the leadership.

Maybe they should read Buddhist texts. They may note that even the Buddha was castiest according to modern standards. Further, it is worth noting that Buddhist’s accepted Hindu Law codes right from the Buddha himself.
