(Reuters) – New Zealand lock Sam Darry will miss the entire Super Rugby season after suffering a shoulder injury at training in a blow for the Blues’ title defence.
The 24-year-old will require surgery on his right shoulder, the Blues said on their social media on Wednesday.
“It is expected that Darry will be fit in time for the All Blacks selection window,” the Blues said.
Darry made his test debut against Fiji last year and played another five times for the All Blacks.
The All Blacks will play a three-test series against France starting in Dunedin on July 5.
The Auckland-based Blues kick off their title defence against the Chiefs at Eden Park on Feb. 15.
