New Delhi, Mar 14 (PTI) Rishabh Singh’s sparkling unbeaten century powered North Zone to a commanding nine-wicket victory over West Zone in the JK Bose Inter-Zonal T20 Cricket Trophy at the Roshanara Cricket Club here on Saturday, during the Golden Jubilee edition of the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) National Convention.
Batting with authority, Rishabh smashed an unbeaten 102 off just 43 balls, peppering the ground with 18 fours and two sixes as North Zone chased down the modest target of 134 with ease.
Earlier, West Zone were bundled out for 133 in 19.2 overs after opting to bat.
Sanju Samyal top-scored with 30, while Taus Rizvi (24) and Ashwin Ferro (23) made useful contributions in the middle order.
Vinay was the pick of the bowlers for North Zone, claiming three crucial wickets to restrict the opposition to a below-par total.
In reply, North Zone made light work of the chase, reaching 137 for one in just 11.1 overs.
Rishabh dominated the proceedings with his aggressive strokeplay while skipper Akash Rawal chipped in with a steady 29 at the other end.
North Zone will now take on South Zone on Sunday and another victory could see them clinch the trophy with a day to spare.
The second match of the day saw South Zone crush East Zone by eight wickets at Delhi Police ground.

In the other semifinal, the Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai (SJAM-1) defeated Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists Association (TNSJA-1) to seal their place in the title clash.
The DSJA-1 team, comprising Kushan Sarkar, Bharat Sharma and Norris Pritam, will now face the SJAM-1 trio of Amol Karhadkar, Ashwin Ferro and Akush Dhavre in the final scheduled to be played at the same venue on Monday.
Apart from cricket and table tennis, the day also featured the Pythian Games in which several senior journalists from across the fraternity participated.
