In a historic win, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has announced a doubling of the Ranji Trophy prize money for the Ranji Trophy-winning Mumbai team. This will be an additional Rs 5 crore paid to the team by the MCA.

The Ranji Trophy 2024 was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday. The match saw the Vidarbha team take on the homegrown Mumbai team. The match started with Vidarbha bowling first, with them getting 224 runs in their first innings. This was followed by a 119-run first-innings lead by Mumbai, with Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, and Dhawal Kulkarni leading the scoring for Mumbai.

Yash Rathod and Atharva Taide were the top bowlers for Vidarbha, while the Mumbai team was led by skipper Akshay Wadkar, who scored 102 runs. The final score of the match was 169 runs, with Mumbai getting the winning run.

The Ranji Trophy 2024 was a runaway victory for the Mumbai team, and the MCA has decided to double the prize money to Rs 5 crore for the winning team. This is a great year for the MCA as the association has won seven titles and has made it knockout stage in all age groups in BCCI tournaments, said Ajinkya Naik, secretary of MCA.
