New Delhi: In a new tell-all memoir, former IPS officer and Tamil Nadu BJP vice-president K. Annamalai takes readers to the core of the ‘khaki’ police uniform and talks about the people who wear it for the service of the nation, with pride and dignity.
The book ‘Stepping Beyond Khaki : Revelations of a Real-Life Singham’, published by Bloomsbury, is due to be released on 25 January on ‘SoftCover’ — ThePrint’s e-venue to launch select non-fiction books.
In a decade-long career as an IPS officer in Karnataka, Annamalai earned the respect of the people with his humanistic action and his leadership style that empowered subordinates.
His memoir talks about the “real heroes” he encountered, throughout the course of his career.
Annamalai, who founded ‘We The Leaders’, a Tamil Nadu-based grassroots change-focused initiative, also prescribes changes needed in politics, policing and in daily governance mechanisms in his book.
It focuses on some core questions that plague politics — are politicians bad? Is politics a place where good people fear to tread?
But foremost, Annamalai’s memoir focuses on the common man’s goodness and the masses’ role in keeping democracy in a nation intact.
