New Delhi: Rekha Gupta was sworn in as Delhi’s chief minister on Thursday, bringing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) back to power in the city after 27 years. Once a BJP stronghold, Delhi had shifted from Congress to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over the years, making Gupta’s victory a significant political shift in the capital.

But what does this mean for Delhi’s governance? For one, it could finally end the tussle between the government and the lieutenant governor. Then, there’s the possibility that the BJP could turn this double-engine government—state and Centre—into a triple-engine government by winning the upcoming mayoral elections.

This means the BJP will have to deliver, with Yamuna and pollution high on its agenda. With the party’s comeback in Delhi, in episode 1611 of #CutTheClutter, Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta, Political Editor DK Singh and Senior Associate Editor Neelam Pandey discuss Operation Kamal’s success in Delhi, how its governance has changed, and what lies ahead.
