Mumbai: Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday said stopping Rahul Gandhi from taking over leadership of Congresswill lead to “extinction” of the grand old party.
In his weekly column Rokhthok in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana, Raut also said Congress lacks a leader who can stand up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi with full might.
Referring to the letter by 23 Congress leaders to Sonia Gandhi on having a “full time” leadership that is active in the field and “visible” in party offices, Raut wondered who is stopping these leaders from being active.
“Activeness to stop Rahul Gandhi will be instrumental in destroying the party and lead to its extinction,” Raut said.
Having a non-Gandhi as Congress president is a good idea, but no one in those 23 has that capability, said Raut whose party, along with Congress and NCP, is a constituent of the ruling alliance in Maharashtra.
Referring to regional parties floated by former Congress leaders, Raut said, “The Congress still exists across India but with different masks. If these masks are thrown away, it can emerge as a prominent political party.”
He said Congress veteran late V N Gadgil described the Congress as an old woman who will never die.”Rahul Gandhi has to decide what to do with the old lady,” Raut added.

The 3rd most important strength of Modi, after his public speaking skills and the capability to lie effortlessly, is Rahul Gandhi. This gentleman needs to go and allow the Congress to go through a cycle of destruction and rebirth. The country is in a dire need of a viable national level opposition run by leaders willing to work 24/7 and at grassroots level.
The self proclaimed “Apostle of Truth” Rahul Gandhi will become “King Liar” and the Laughing Stock of the whole country if he goes back on his Promise (seconded by Priyanka) that neither he nor any member of the Gandhi Family will become President of the Congress party again. Rahul’s chelas like Raut keep repeating that Rahul “proved his mettle” by winning 3 State elections in Dec. 2018 – but was he the CM candidate then? Rahul actually “proved his mettle” in the 2014 and 2019 LS polls when he was the PM candidate. The Congress got wiped out – even in the above 3 States and that too within just 4 months.
Sanjay Raut..should stop commenting on politics, he is a very immature..his decision to go with Congress in Maharashtra..has wiped out the future of Shivsena.

The Congress should appoint Rahul Gandhi as President for life. He is the only “leader” who can guide the Congress to its ultimate destination i.e the graveyard.
