New Delhi: The new complex, where the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will be housed, has been named ‘Seva Teerth 1’—the first of three brand-new structures in Executive Enclave—next to Vayu Bhawan.

It has been designed as a workplace, reflecting the spirit of service, and will serve as the centre from which national priorities will take shape.

“Under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, every step of governance is now advancing on the path of ‘Seva’. The PMO’s Seva Tirtha, the Raj Bhavans’ Lok Bhawan, and the Central Secretariat’s Kartavya Bhawan—these are not mere changes; they are a clear message of a new work culture being developed in the national interest,” BJP national secretary Dr Arvind Menon wrote on X.

In September this year, the Cabinet Secretariat shifted to the newly built ‘Seva Teerth 2’—another Central Vista building in Executive Enclave-1. Seva Teerth 3 will house the National Security Advisor’s office.

Earlier, the government had named the ten-building Common Central Secretariat (CCS) as Kartavya Bhavan. A majority of central government ministries have already been relocated there, including Petroleum and Natural Gas, Rural Development, Home Affairs, and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), among others.

The other ministries are still located at their old sites. For instance, the Vanijya Bhawan houses the offices of the Ministry of Commerce, and the Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan houses the offices of the Ministry of External Affairs.

The Kartavya Bhavan, which now houses different ministries, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August. It was launched, as several politicians called for the Raj Bhavans to be renamed Lok Bhavans, in a bid to shed the Colonial legacy of the country.

Earlier, the government renamed Rajpath—a landmark street in Central Delhi—to Kartavya Path. The PMO residence was renamed Lok Kalyan Marg in 2016. The Common Central Secretariat was then renamed Kartavya Bhavan.

At the new PMO in Executive Enclave, as well as the Prime Minister’s residence, work is already underway. Executive Enclave is close to the site of the South Block.

The PM’s Residence Complex in Executive Enclave-3 will be one of the key and high-profile components of the Central Vista Redevelopment Project.

ThePrint earlier reported that an estimated Rs 467 crore was spent to build a new complex on Dara Shikoh Road near South Block in Delhi. It covers a total built-up of 2,26,203 square feet, with the PM’s residence covering 36,328 square feet.

The government hopes to complete all projects under the Central Vista revamp, including the new residence of the PM—close to South Block—by the end of 2027.
