Kolkata: A day after Home Minister Amit Shah left West Bengal, following his two-day high-voltage campaign in the state, election strategist Prashant Kishor on Monday claimed on Twitter that the BJP will struggle to cross the double-digit mark in assembly polls.

Kishor, who has been roped in by TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee to strengthen her party’s poll prospects, said that he would quit the microblogging site if the saffron party does any better than what he predicted.

“For all the hype amplified by a section of supportive media, in reality BJP will struggle to cross double digits in West Bengal,” he tweeted.

“Please save this tweet and if BJP does any better I must quit this space!” Kishore added.

The saffron party, which recently received a shot in the arm after political heavyweight Suvendu Adhikari, a TMC MP and nine MLAs joined its camp, has asserted that it would win over 200 seats in the upcoming polls.

BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya, in response to Kishor’s tweet, said the country would end up losing a poll strategist after Bengal elections.

“Given the ongoing BJP tsunami in Bengal; once the new government is formed, the country will have to lose an election strategist,” Vijayvargiya quipped on Twitter.

Assembly elections are likely to be held in West Bengal in April-May.

  1. Now, Prashant Kishore is talking like a true politician. When he speaks of crossing double-digit, does he mean 10 to 99? Anyone who has seen BJP’s war machinery in recent times would not make the mistake of underestimating its campaigning power.

  2. A man is known by the company he keeps. Mr prashant kishor seems to have lost his critical thinking and memory in company of Didi. He is talking of Assembly elections. Does he remember how many seats BJP has won in last LokSabha election from W.Bengal ? Those were definitively in double digit –18 or so. If a party when it was focusing its attention on whole of India and it got 18 seats of loksabha, then one can imagine how many seats it can get when all its focus is on one state only . He might have got some good money for services rendered to TMC and Didi , but should not forget She is suffering from political disease called anti-incumbency , and infirmities found in DNA of politician of Congress -type like– minority- appeasement, mis-governance, ignoring corruption charges against kith and kin. . All this is going to effect voting , when voters of Bengal are standing in lines to vote for next Assembly.
