In today’s featured cartoon, Kirtish Bhatt comments on the mass protests in Sri Lanka where protestors took over the official presidential residence, forcing President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to flee, and enjoyed themselves in its swimming pool. Some also set PM Ranil Wickremesinghe’s house on fire. In the cartoon, a nervous politician comments, “If a minister goes to the public’s home, that’s okay. But what if the public comes to the minister’s home? Just thinking about it gives me chills”.
While referring to the events in Sri Lanka — where both the president and the prime minister have announced that they will resign — E.P. Unny takes a jibe at the Goa Congress amid rumours of party MLAs planning to jump ship to the BJP. He references Goa’s tradition of political defections and voters focussing on the candidate rather than the party.
