The dominant theme for cartoonists today was the Kisan Long March in Maharashtra. In the lead cartoon, Satish Acharya in Mail Today takes a dig at critics of the protest, and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’ statement that 95 per cent of the protesters were not farmers, but tribals.

Alok Nirantar’s cartoon in Sakal Media says the BJP government may have to resort to giving farmers empty promises as their treasury has run dry.

Surendra in The Hindu connects the farmer suicides in Vidarbha region of the state with the march. Maharashtra has had one of the highest farmer suicide rates in India.

Sunil Agarwal and Ajit Ninan in iToons depicts the obsession of the current generation with the Internet.

Meanwhile, an orthopaedic surgeon, Ishtyaque Ansari, has drawn a cartoon on the BJP’s induction of questionable candidates, the latest being former Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agarwal.
