In today’s featured cartoon, Satish Acharya captures the joy and festive mood in honour of Ganesh Chaturthi – the annual Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha.
Here, Sandeep Adhwaryu alludes to the recent speech by PM Modi in the special session of Parliament, before moving to the new Parliament building. Adhwaryu gives a satirical take on the PM’s speech, where he praised Jawaharlal Nehru and his famous ‘Tryst with Destiny’ speech on the eve of India’s independence.
The recent sourness between India and Canada’s relations is represented in this cartoon of PM Modi and Justin Trudeau. While Canada accused India of being behind the killing of a Sikh extremist leader in Canada and expelled an Indian diplomat, India called the accusation ”absurd” and in turn expelled a Canadian diplomat.
E P Unny, too, humorously illustrates PM Modi’s recent old Parliament speech in this cartoon. He shows Jawaharlal Nehru surprised at being mentioned in a positive light by the PM, hence calling it the real reason for the ‘special’ Parliament session.
