20 years of ‘war on terror’ & rich nations ‘bathing in surplus vaccine doses’

The best international cartoons of the week, chosen by the editors at ThePrint.

Adam Zyglis | Buffalo News

The selected cartoons appeared first in other publications, either in print or online, or on social media, and are credited appropriately.

In today’s featured cartoon, Adam Zyglis draws up the shadow of the World Trade Centre’s twin towers, 20 years after 9/11 terrorist attack. In the shadow, smoke can still be seen emanating from the towers, in the form of the 20-year-long war in Afghanistan. And the artist is former US  President George Bush under whose presidency America carried out the ‘war on terror’.

Carlos Latuff | Twitter

Did you know the first ‘9/11′ attack was a military coup against a democratically elected government in Chile, allegedly backed by the United States in the year 1973? In the attack, the presidential palace was bombed. In this cartoon, Brazilian cartoonist Carlos Latuff brings the readers’ attention to this forgotten 9/11.

Ben Jennings | The Guardian
