New Delhi: A Delhi court Thursday discharged former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain’s brother Shah Alam and two others who had been accused of vandalising a shop during the February 2020 northeast Delhi riots.
Additional Sessions Judge Vinod Yadav while pronouncing the order said that the evidence put on record by the investigating agency “miserably” fell short for framing charges against the accused persons.
Coming down heavily on the “callous investigation” undertaken by the Delhi Police, the judge noted that there were no independent eyewitnesses in both cases.
“The case appeared to have been solved merely by filing this chargesheet without any real effort being made to trace out the eye witnesses, real accused persons and technical evidence,” Judge Yadav said.
The court also observed the casualty in which the matter was dealt with, causing pain and agony to the complainant, whose case has remained unsolved.
“The precious judicial time of this court is being wasted in giving dates in those cases. A lot of time of this court is being consumed by the cases like the present one, where there is hardly any investigation carried out by the police,” the court added.
