Gurugram, Apr 7 (PTI) A woman allegedly strangled her two-and-a-half-year-old daughter to death before attempting suicide by slitting her throat in the Surya Vihar area, police said on Tuesday.
The woman is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Police have sent the girl’s body for a postmortem, and are questioning her husband, they added.
According to the police, the incident took place on Monday night in Surya Vihar colony in Sector 9A area.
Police said the woman, Neha, lived with her husband and two-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Anika.
Upon receiving information about the incident on Monday night, a police team reached the spot, registered an FIR at Sector 9A police station and launched an investigation, a senior police officer said.
“The woman is awaiting consciousness. Her husband was also questioned, but he feigned ignorance. The reason for such an extreme step will only be revealed after questioning her”, the officer said. PTI COR SHS SHS
