New Delhi: A 60-day visa-on-arrival facility is now available for tourists from Japan, South Korea, and the UAE for tourism, business, conference, and medical purposes, a statement issued by the Ministry of Tourism stated. The facility is available for entry through 06 designated airports in India.
The Ministry of Tourism of India has collaborated with 15 state governments and union territories to introduce tourist police in one form or the other. A 24×7 Multi-Lingual Tourist Info-Helpline line has also been set up.
In 2014-2015, the Ministry started a Swadesh Darshan scheme. Under this, financial help is provided to state governments for the development of tourism infrastructure. Under this scheme, 76 projects have been sanctioned with a total amount of Rs 5287.90 crore.
The scheme has now been revamped as Swadesh Darshan 2.0 (SD2.0). The aim of this initiative is to develop sustainable and responsible tourism destinations.
