Chennai, Mar 26 (PTI) TVK chief Vijay on Thursday visited the DGP office to lodge a formal complaint against V Ponraj, former scientific advisor to A P J Abdul Kalam, for making “derogatory” remarks against women.

In a post on ‘X’, he slammed the ruling DMK for allegedly shielding “mercenary gamblers” who insult women under the guise of political criticism.

Ponraj is also a political commentator.

“A hireling acting as a supporter of the DMK has criticised my mothers, elder sisters, and younger sisters —who are worthy of this soil’s pride and praise — using lowly and unspeakable words as they pleased,” Vijay wrote.

He further warned that such actions, which insult “womanhood as a whole,” would lead to the DMK’s certain defeat in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections.

Vijay repeatedly referred to the DMK as an “evil force” that would “bite the dust” due to the “unanimous decision of the mothers” at the polls.

Accompanied by party functionaries, Vijay submitted a petition to the DGP seeking stringent action against Ponraj.

The complaint alleges that Ponraj, emboldened by the “embrace and support” of the DMK leadership, used highly offensive language—including terms implying that women supporters of the TVK were of ill-repute—during a recent interview.

Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, TVK leader Sengottaiyan stated that Vijay was deeply disturbed by the nature of the comments and decided to intervene personally to protect the dignity and respect of the women of Tamil Nadu.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from TVK cadres, who have been staging protests across the state demanding the immediate arrest of those involved in the verbal abuse. PTI JR KH
