Mumbai, Mar 16 (PTI) Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant on Monday said some Vidhan Bhavan staffers prepared fake letterheads of his department, with names of officials and scanned signatures on it, to procure passes that were being sold for Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500.

These officials were from the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), the minister informed the legislative council.

“A dummy letterhead was prepared with names of 50 officials and their designation and scanned signatures to get passes from Vidhan Bhavan office,” Samant said, adding a complaint was made to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), which asked officials for an explanation.

“It was realised that personnel from the state legislature prepared dummy letterheads of many departments and they charge Rs 2000-2500 for preparing passes. This is a serious issue,” the minister said.

When officials of the state legislature questioned those who were involved in making these dummy letterheads, these personnel claimed this was their first and last mistake, said Samant, who also presented the letter to legislative council chairperson Ram Shinde.

“There should be strict action against such tendencies and it is wrong that state legislature personnel do this,” Samant said.

“We also came to know about this and we have initiated a probe. Strict action will be taken against them,” Shinde asserted. PTI PR BNM
